- Questions and comments from the audience (5 minutes)
- Conclusion (2 minutes)
Some notions from the panel discussion:
Motto: Digital heritage is cultural heritage! (Outi Penninkangas)
Comments from the audience:
Other museum-related projects:
- Sweden: collecting oral history in a research project
- Iceland: Dataprosessing SIG, collecting of oral history
- Denmark: Large cellar in Copenhagen, full of machines
- Other?
About preserving and exhibiting software and other aspects:
- Allthough there is no old software, it is quite easy to demontstrate ideas of algorithms
- One could also use emulators for presenting software
On financing the projects:
- John I.: Are the national IT societies active in IT history and museum projects in Nordic countries (they should be)?
- In Iceland for instance, it isn’t easy to get national money for museum project, but EU level or Nordic level would be interesting in this aspect <– Peter: ITCeum co-operates with Nordic Union (???)
Other:
- Are there some “interface problems” with more traditional technical museums?
Comments from the panelists:
- Peter: Getting (national) institutional status for the museums take a long time
- Peter: Private partners (companies) of ITCeum are interested in national level
- Ola: When the collections are well documented, they are more valuable (and probably harder to destroy)
- Kimmo: One do not need much money for making collections or exhibitions

Porissa tulvi
August 13, 2007 by Jaakko SuominenSunnuntaina 12.8.2007 Porissa satoi ja tulvi (ks. kuvat). Laitoksemme tiloihinkin tuli hieman vettä, pettäneistä ilmastointilaitteista. Atk-luokan koneet onneksi säästyivät.
